Wide range of boats suitable for surveying

Commercial Rib Charter operates a wide range of boats suitable for survey. Our fleet comprises boats from 3m in length up to 20m, several with survey equipment pre-installed. We are able to survey areas ranging from streams, rivers, canals, lakes, and reservoirs up to 60nm offshore.

Our partners

Wide range of surveys

We have provided survey boats to companies covering a range of locations, including inland, harbours, near shore and offshore. Inshore survey projects have included structural, bridge, bank, building, pier, weir and lock surveys. Offshore projects typically involve surveying new cable laying routes, UXO disposal or studying scouring around monopile foundations. We have also assisted on environmental and conservational surveys including inter tidal, benthic, pelagic, ecological and flora, along with mammal and bird population studies.

Specialist survey boat configuration

Our smallest survey boats are open Ribs suitable for lakes, canals and rivers. As we progress up the fleet, our smallest cabin survey Rib draws only 75cm but provides shelter for data collection and analysis equipment. Our largest survey boats are catamarans which can be configured to provide a full size chart table, 3m long instrument work bench and ‘clean’ 240v power. Some of our larger vessels are available with a host of deck equipment including survey poles, A-Frames, winches and cranes.

Underwater survey

We operate two purpose built and IMCA compliant dive support vessels for underwater survey where divers are required. Both vessels are equipped with cylinders, lights, cameras and recording equipment as standard. Our larger DSV, CRC Sentinel, features a 3 diver air/nitrox system and a 4-point anchor spread.

Aerial survey

Our survey boats are also used to launch and recover drones suitable for aerial surveys to include mapping, HD photography, filming and infrared survey. Applications also include inspection of structures and surveys of cliffs for geological or ornithological examination. CRC can provide qualified commercial drone pilots if required too.
