Work is well and truly underway of our new 13 meter Amphibious Crew Transfer Vessel (ACTV), named ‘CRC Walrus’! All of the materials have arrived at Diverse Marine in Cowes, Isle of Wight and the hull construction is currently progressing well.
The twin OXE 300hp diesel outboards have also arrived and are ready to fit. Shortly parts for the outfitting will be arriving too including the generator and hydraulic systems. Over the coming weeks work will begin on constructing the deck, wheelhouse, railings and the transfer platform on the bow.
We are particularly pleased to have set a high specification of welfare and navigation equipment on the vessel to replicate all the benefits you would find in a traditional Crew Transfer Vessel. These include:
- Garmin GPSMAP1223 colour chart plotter
- Garmin GMR18HD+ radar
- Furuno FA170 AIS
- Furuno NX700B Navtex
- 2x Fixed VHF Radios
- Loudhailer and CCTV
- Tron SART and EPIRB
- Echo sounder
- Autopilot
- Galley and heads, including microwave and water boiler
Diverse Marine and all our suppliers have been excellent in keeping the project on track, especially considering the bottlenecks in the global supply chain currently. As is stands, Walrus will be launched on schedule in early August before sea trials in the Solent and then delivery to our client and vessel crew in September.
