Introducing the ‘Mission Control’ bridge on CRC Sentinel!
Our newest vessel to the CRC fleet is CRC Sentinel, a top spec dive support vessel featuring a 4-point anchor spread, 3 diver air/nitrox dive panel and virtually all equipment supplied as standard – perfect for cable landings, marine salvage, quay repairs, and wind farm support.
Sentinel also boats probably the most impressive bridge in our fleet which at first glance has a dizzying array of buttons, screens and technology. All of these systems provide our masters and crew with everything they need to safely operate the vessel and include:
- Navigation equipment – chart plotters, echo sounders, radar and AIS
- Deck hydraulics and winches
- Bilge alarms and pump controls
- Essential engine data – coolant temperature, RPM, fuel pressure, turbo pressure
- Essential jet system information – bucket position and oil alarms and back up controls
- All vessel lighting, heating and A/C
- CCTV monitoring and log keeping
Many of the systems are ergonomically designed to make it easy for use during hours of darkness or in rough weather. A lot of the equipment is also an essential requirement in order to have the vessel commercially coded – e.g. 2x VHF radios and a Class A Automatic Identification System (AIS). If we are working far offshore we also need to have working high frequency (HF) radios and satellite phones.
The Rolls-Royce jet system on Sentinel is especially advanced. Through one single joystick in your right hand, you can control jet bucket position and main engine thrust for both engines and jets. This gives you accurate and instant control over the vessel in close quarters maneuvering, such as berthing alongside.
