Maintaining the high level of service that we are renowned for (and our clients rightly expect) is hard work and expensive – but is absolutely critical. With a fleet of over 40 vessels providing crew transfers, cable laying support and diving operations, we have a wide inventory of spares in stock ready to be fitted to any vessel.
In addition, all vessel machinery requires close attention throughout the year. This includes main engines, gearboxes, jet drives, generators and ancillaries such as deck cranes and hydraulics. We carry out scheduled servicing as per manufacturer guidelines but also carry a whole host of spare machinery, all serviced and tested so we can bolt it straight in. This inventory includes:
- 1x Man D2862 V12 engine (for Sentinel)
- 2x Volvo D6 engines (suitable for Voyager and Galaxy)
- 1x Scania DI16 engine (for Vulcan)
- 2x Rolls Royce jet drives (for Sentinel)
- 1x Cummins Onan generator (for Sentinel, Vulcan and Gladiator)
- 2x Hamilton Jet 241s (for Tempest)
- 1x ZF gearbox (for Galaxy or Voyager)
- 1x Twin Disc gearbox (for Vulcan)
- 1x Volvo DPH-C outdrive (for Lodestar)
…plus a nice handful of spare Suzuki 250hp and 300hp outboards either brand new or with low hours for our Open Rib fleet.
Whenever a vessel is mobilised away from our HQ, we run an ‘Immediate Response’ plan in the event of any breakdown. This involves good relationships with suppliers, engineers, boatyards, drivers and our crew. We have several full time workshop technicians on 24/7 stand-by in case additional support is needed, along with a large database of nearly 200 freelancers around the country who can provide logistical support in quickly moving parts from A to B.
Things do go wrong with boats (as every boat owner will confirm!) but here at CRC we try and make sure we are prepared for every scenario. Many of our clients in the past have been impressed with our reaction times and this has led to repeat custom and good open, honest relationships.
