As winter sets in and projects slow down, our focus shifts to a critical aspect of our business—maintenance. The colder months offer us the perfect opportunity to carry out essential and preventative maintenance on our fleet. This ensures that our vessels are not only ready for the challenges of the approaching busy season but also that they continue to operate at peak performance, offering reliability and safety to our clients.
Here’s a brief overview of what’s in store over the coming months:
Vessel Overhauls and Upgrades – Our maintenance program is extensive, covering everything from complete engine and gearbox overhauls to Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) repairs, electrical system upgrades as well as the general service schedules on all machinery. These tasks are vital to the longevity and performance of our vessels.
Engine Overhauls and Gearbox Maintenance –CRC Sentinel has undergone engine removals for full overhauls. This preventative measure is essential in maintaining optimal engine performance, reducing the likelihood of unexpected breakdowns, and extending the overall lifespan of the vessel. Alongside this, we’ve taken the opportunity to carry out gearbox overhauls to ensure smooth and reliable operation in all conditions.
Structural and Electrical Improvements – GRP repairs have also been a key focus during this period, allowing us to address any wear and tear sustained during the previous operational season.
CRC Galaxy was showing signs of fatigue along the tube carriers caused from lifting her on and off transport so we have removed the gel coat and a couple layers of laminate to ensure a thorough repair is carried out. 7 layers of laminate applied, combined with a structural wedge insert and 3 more layers of laminate will make her lifting areas stronger than ever before.
We’ve also taken the time to upgrade the electrical systems on CRC Galaxy and CRC Voyager incorporating the latest CCTV technology to enhance onboard safety.
While maintenance is our priority during the winter months, we understand the importance of remaining operational. Our team has carefully planned all maintenance activities to ensure that, while some vessels under go essential work, others remain available at short notice.
